If you’re a member of the retail or hospitality industries, then you know that this means one thing: Easter is coming! In fact, it’s just around the corner. This wonderful day of giving eggs to your friends and family as well as chocolate bunnies comes just once a year. Thankfully, most workplaces give their employees the day off for this special holiday. However, depending on which state you live in and what position you have at work can make all the difference. So is Easter a paid holiday? Let’s find out!

    Is Easter A Paid Holiday?

    In most countries, Easter is not a paid holiday. However, some companies may grant employees Easter holiday without any additional pay.     Which States Celebrate Easter As A Paid Holiday?

    • California is one of the states that grant employees a paid Easter holiday. However, not all types of employees receive this benefit. Those who do not work for these larger companies will have to use their vacation or personal days in order to get the day off.
    • Oregon is another state that gives its workers a paid Easter holiday. This state also requires large employers to give their workers the day off without any additional pay, but smaller employers are allowed to decide whether they want to give paid time off or not.
    • New Jersey is yet another state that gives its employees a paid holiday on Easter Sunday, but only if they work for larger companies with more than 50 employees. Employees of smaller companies must use vacation or personal days in order to get time off for this special day.
    • Florida is another state that offers its workers a paid Easter holiday as long as they holiday on Easter Sunday. However, this holiday only applies to those who work for larger companies. Employees of smaller companies must use vacation or personal days in order to get time off for this special day.
    • Minnesota is yet another state that gives its employees a paid holiday for Easter Sunday. However, this holiday only applies to those who work for larger companies. Employees of smaller companies must use vacation or personal days in order to get time off for this special day.
    • Texas is yet another state that gives its employees a paid holiday on Easter Sunday without any additional pay. However, this holiday only applies to those who work for larger companies.
