The well-known city of oaks in Northern Carolina welcomes tourists with open arms. It is claimed to be one of the most comfortable cities to live in among many others in the southeast. 1. Historic Yates Mill County Park
This gristmill served as a water-powered one for over 200 years. Now, it’s restored into a popular visitor center. Yates Mill has a museum dedicated to the milling and the history of the area. With free entrance and easy parking, you can hike around the lake or do your own exploration.
Bring your lunch, sit down at the picnic area and enjoy the sceneries! If you are a professional photographer, make sure to check-in and register at the desk/welcome center. This place is really awesome for wedding photoshoots, anniversaries, birthdays, and anything that you can think of.
2. Neuse River Trail
This 35-mile trail is well-marked, well-paved, and wide. The route covers Wake Forest, Knightdale, and Clayton in the Wake and Johnston districts. The bridge provides a really picturesque overlook. What’s nice, the trees along the way give some cover as long as it isn’t “high noon.”
You can walk or bike throughout the rest of Raleigh from this trail. There are some undulations but generally mild slopes, what’s good for child’s biking. Or you may keep going on the MST trail to the ocean. Mention, that a few spots near the dam are steep for a nonathletic wheelchair or baby stroller, but one can get by with help from a friend or use alternate entrances.
3. North Carolina Museum of History
This museum contains an astounding number of amazing artifacts (including two full houses). People worldwide come here to find out exciting facts and some state’s hidden gems! Have you known that from now on it’s not a problem to rent a car for drivers under the age of 25?

4. Treetop quest course

The West Building has a famous standing collection, and it’s quite decent with a few big names (Raphael, Monet, Rodin). It includes European paintings, Egyptian art, Greece and Rome painted vases, likewise American and international art pieces.
