EDITOR’S NOTE: We have removed the names of employees making less than $100,000 a year. While that information is public, we do want to protect the privacy of City of Raleigh employees.

In honor of Sunshine Week and the Record’s continuing efforts to live up to the Public Record part of its name, we present for you the salary data of every full-time permanent employee for the City of Raleigh.

The list below is sorted by salary, from highest to lowest. No surprise that the city manager and the city attorney are at the top. Ever wondered how much the parking enforcement officers downtown make? $23,801. Raleigh police recruits make $34,000 a year, and bump up $1,000 when they become police officers.

  1. wral did the same thing a while back and was forced to remove the names, while city salaries should be for the public to see, i beleive only by job title. names should be kept confidential.

  2. Interesting report, I can say without doubt that there is a huge imbalance in salary for those that do the same job shown here. Several employees are under paid and some are definately over paid. Who ever heard of engineers making less than a sports instructor? The city manager should look at this closely. I agree that releasing names is not appropriate as this can go anywhere in the world. List by position, not name.
